Local channels and why they vary
US broadcast TV is organised into 210 Nielsen Designated Market Areas (DMAs). Each market has its own ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX affiliates with local news and weather. - The exact network names you watch.
- Whether the channel has programme guide data — news schedules change often.
- Whether catch-up is available, so you can rewind a bulletin you missed.
East and West feeds
Many US networks broadcast an East feed and a West feed, three hours apart. If prime time starts at 5 pm in Los Angeles, you're on the East feed. Pick the feed for your time zone, and set your player's time zone correctly so the guide lines up.
Live sports channels
US sports coverage is split between national networks and regional sports networks tied to local teams. What's available — and what's licensed for streaming — varies widely.
