IPTV on Windows & Mac

A computer is the quickest way to test an IPTV subscription: VLC can open your M3U link in under a minute, and dedicated players such as IPTV Smarters or Kodi add a proper channel guide. Connect the laptop to a TV with HDMI and it becomes a full IPTV setup.

Quick start with VLC (Windows and Mac)

  1. Install VLC media player from videolan.org.
  2. Open Media → Open Network Stream (Mac: File → Open Network).
  3. Paste your M3U playlist link and press Play.
  4. Open the playlist view (Ctrl+L / Cmd+Shift+P) to browse channels.

Setting up Kodi

  1. In Kodi open Add-ons → Install from repository → PVR clients → PVR IPTV Simple Client and install it.
  2. Open the add-on's Configure menu and set the M3U playlist URL.
  3. Under EPG settings, paste the XMLTV guide link we send with your subscription.
  4. Restart Kodi; channels appear under TV with the guide.

Watching from the computer on a TV

An HDMI cable from laptop to TV gives the best result. Set Windows to duplicate or extend the display (Win+P), or on a Mac choose the TV in the Displays menu. For everyday living-room use, a Fire TV Stick is more convenient than leaving a laptop plugged in.

Can I watch IPTV in a web browser?

Browsers can't play most IPTV stream formats directly. Use VLC or a desktop player instead.

Why does VLC show channels but no TV guide?

VLC doesn't read EPG data. Use Kodi, MyIPTV or IPTV Smarters for a programme guide.
