There's no single best stream format for every device. MPEG-TS (.ts) is the usual default on Firestick and Android players and tends to start channels quickly. HLS (.m3u8) delivers the same video as short segments over ordinary web requests, which often works better on Apple devices, unstable connections and players that won't play TS. If channels stutter, go black or won't start in one format, switch to the other.
What is MPEG-TS?
MPEG transport stream (TS) is a container format designed for broadcasting. For IPTV it's delivered as one continuous stream from the server to your player. Because there's no segment playlist to fetch first, channels often start and switch quickly, and many Android-based players are tuned for it.
What is HLS (m3u8)?
HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) is a format created by Apple and now supported almost everywhere. The player downloads an m3u8 playlist that points to short video segments (a few seconds each) and fetches them one after another over normal HTTP. Apple's HLS documentation describes the format in detail. Because each segment is an ordinary web request, HLS copes well with networks that briefly drop and is native to iPhone, iPad and Apple TV.

The picture quality is the same — both carry the same video. The difference is how it travels.
Which format should you use on each device?

How to change the stream format
- M3U link: find
output=tsin your link and change it tooutput=m3u8(or the reverse). See our M3U setup guide. - Xtream Codes apps: look for a stream format, output or playback setting. In IPTV Smarters, also try switching the player in settings.
- Reload the playlist or restart the app after changing.
When the format isn't the problem
Switching format won't fix a slow or unstable connection. If both formats buffer, work through the buffering checklist and check your broadband for 4K. If just one channel fails in both formats, the source may be down — tell support which channel.
