An IPTV app (a player) and an IPTV provider do different jobs. The app is the software on your TV or phone that shows channels and plays video. The provider supplies the channels, programme guide, on-demand library and the login. You need both: an app with no subscription shows an empty screen, and a subscription with no app has nothing to play it.

How they connect: the login
The provider gives you a login — an Xtream Codes server URL, username and password, an M3U link or a MAG portal. You enter it in the app, and the app loads the provider's content. Change the login and the same app shows a different service.

Why app stores don't sell channels
App developers publish players that work with any compatible provider. They don't supply or control the content, which is why their store descriptions say the app "does not include channels". It's also why an app's reviews tell you about the app, not about any provider.
