Downloader is a free app in the Amazon Appstore that lets your Fire TV download and install apps that aren't in Amazon's store — which includes most IPTV players. You install Downloader, allow it to install unknown apps, type the download address or short code of the player you want, install it, then delete the installer file. It takes about five minutes.
Step 1: Install Downloader
- On the Fire TV home screen, select Find (magnifying glass) and search for Downloader.
- Select the orange Downloader app and choose Get or Download.
Step 2: Allow Downloader to install apps
- Go to Settings → My Fire TV.
- If Developer options isn't shown, open About and click your device name seven times until a message confirms you're a developer.
- Open Developer options → Install unknown apps.
- Select Downloader so it shows On.
This setting only allows Downloader to install apps; it doesn't modify the device and can be turned off again.
Step 3: Download a player app
- Open Downloader and allow access to files if asked.
- In the Home tab, type the full download address from the app developer's official site, or a short code if the developer publishes one.
- Select Go. The file downloads.
- When the installer opens, choose Install, then Done.
Step 4: Delete the installer
Downloader will offer to delete the downloaded file. Choose Delete — twice if asked. Installer files take up storage that's scarce on Fire TV Sticks; see free up Fire TV storage.
Step 5: Open the player and log in
Find the new app under Your Apps & Channels (hold the Home button → Apps). Open it and sign in with your subscription — most people use an Xtream Codes login. Our IPTV Smarters Firestick guide shows each screen.
Staying safe with Downloader
- Only download from developers' official sites. Avoid "modded", "premium unlocked" or cracked APKs.
- Don't install apps that ask for unusual permissions.
- Keep "Install unknown apps" off for other apps you don't trust.
- Update apps from the same official source.
