Fire TV Stick Storage Full? How to Free Up Space

A Fire TV Stick has limited internal storage, and when it fills up apps slow down, crash or won't update. To free space: check storage, clear the cache of large apps, delete leftover installer (APK) files, and uninstall apps you don't use. Aim to keep at least about 1 GB free.

Step 1: Check how much space you have

Go to Settings → My Fire TV → About → Storage. If free space is under about 1 GB, it's worth clearing some.

Step 2: Clear app cache

1. Go to Settings → Applications → Manage Installed Applications.
2. Select a large app — IPTV players and video apps often hold the most cache.
3. Choose Clear cache.

Clearing cache is safe. Clear data resets the app completely, including your login and favourites — only use it to fix a broken app.

Step 3: Delete leftover installer files

If you've installed apps with Downloader, the installer (APK) files may still be on the device. Open Downloader → Files and delete any APK files. Our Downloader guide explains how to delete them straight after installing.

Step 4: Uninstall apps you don't use

In Manage Installed Applications, select apps you never open and choose Uninstall. Pre-installed apps can't all be removed, but many games and trial apps can.

Step 5: Restart

Hold Select + Play/Pause for about five seconds, or go to Settings → My Fire TV → Restart. A restart clears temporary files and memory.

Keeping your IPTV player light

• Hide channel groups you don't watch — smaller lists use less memory and load faster.
• Keep one or two players, not five.
• Limit EPG days in the player's settings if the option exists.
• Update apps so they use storage efficiently.
