Most IPTV Smarters problems are fixed in five settings: player selection, stream format, EPG time shift, automatic updates and parental control. Menu names vary a little between versions and devices, but the options are usually under Settings on the Smarters home screen.
Player selection
Smarters can play streams with different built-in players or send them to an external player such as VLC.

Change one thing at a time and test the same channel.
Stream format
Some versions let you choose the stream format (default, MPEG-TS or HLS). If a channel won't play or freezes, switch format and retry. Our explainer on TS vs HLS explains the difference.
EPG time shift
If the guide is out by an hour or more, find the EPG time shift / timezone setting and adjust it by whole hours. This often needs changing after clocks go forward or back. More on guides in what an EPG is.
Automatic updates
Enable auto-update for channels and the EPG (often under Automation), or refresh manually after your provider adds channels. A stale list is a common cause of missing channels.
Parental control
Set a PIN and lock channel categories you don't want children to open — see IPTV parental controls.

- Layout options for live TV and the channel list.
- Multi-screen to watch more than one channel at once, on versions that support it.
