Android phones and tablets are one of the easiest places to watch IPTV: install a player such as IPTV Smarters Pro from Google Play, sign in with your Xtream Codes details, and live channels, the guide and on-demand content load. Use Wi-Fi where possible — HD uses around 2 GB per hour — and cast to a TV when you want the big screen.
Apps for Android phones and tablets
| App | Good for | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| IPTV Smarters Pro | Live TV, guide, movies and series | Popular all-rounder; availability in Google Play can vary by country |
| GSE Smart IPTV | M3U and Xtream playlists | Many format options |
| VLC | Quick M3U playback | No guide — see VLC for IPTV |
TiviMate is built mainly for Android TV and works best on a TV device rather than a phone.
Setting up
- Install the player from Google Play.
- Choose Login with Xtream Codes API (or add an M3U playlist).
- Enter the server URL, username and password exactly as sent — see Xtream Codes setup.
- Wait for channels and the guide to load, then add favourites.
Phone and tablet features
- Picture-in-picture (Android 8+, in supporting apps): press Home while a channel plays to keep it in a floating window.
- Landscape lock and gesture controls for volume and brightness in most players.
- Headphones and Bluetooth audio work as with any video app.
Mobile data use
| Quality | Approx. bitrate | Approx. data per hour |
|---|---|---|
| SD | 2 Mbps | about 0.9 GB |
| HD | 5 Mbps | about 2.2 GB |
| Full HD | 8 Mbps | about 3.6 GB |
| 4K | 25 Mbps | about 11 GB |
On mobile data, choose SD or HD channel versions where available.
Watching on the TV
Cast from supported apps to a Chromecast or Google TV device, or mirror your screen to a compatible TV. See how to cast IPTV to a TV. For everyday TV viewing, a dedicated app on the TV or a stick is smoother.
Battery and heat
Video streaming uses battery; lowering brightness and using Wi-Fi rather than mobile data helps. If the phone gets hot, pause and let it cool.
For other devices, see the device setup guides.
